Become a registered trainer with the Matilda Centre to deliver skills based training on managing co-occurring alcohol and other drug and mental health conditions in alcohol and other drug treatment settings

When: Thursday, 14 November 2024
Time: 9:30am – 4:30pm
Duration: 7 hours
Location: Online

This train-the-trainer workshop has been developed in a collaboration between the Matilda Centre and 360Edge. Participants will become registered trainers with the Matilda Centre, able to provide skills-based training for alcohol and other drug workers to improve their capacity to manage co-occurring mental disorders.

The skills-based training program comprises seven half day modules:

  1. Understanding co-occurring conditions
  2. Screening and assessment
  3. Applying motivational enhancement, cognitive and behavioural approaches to co-occurring disorders
  4. Anxiety, depression and bipolar disorders
  5. Personality disorders
  6. Post traumatic stress disorder
  7. Psychosis, eating disorders and obsessive compulsive disorder

Please note: This workshop is a train-the-trainer format with a focus on how to deliver the skills-based training modules listed above. We do not delve into the content of each of the seven modules. It is the responsibility of trainers to familiarise themselves with the module content once they become registered trainers.

Learning outcomes

  • Trainers will become registered trainers through the Matilda Centre
  • Upon completion of the train-the-trainer workshop, trainers will access all training materials to be able to deliver the seven modules of the skills-based training.
